- Brian Keaulana
In both work and play, Brian’s life is defined by the ocean. A professional stunt man and stunt coordinator for 20 years, he has been both in front of the camera and behind it. He has been featured in numerous films, such as Riding Giants and Billabong Odyssey. He was the stunt coordinator for Pipeline and Blue Crush, among many others. Brian participates in almost every professional waterman competition and was recently awarded the 2007 World Tandem Surfing Championship. He has numerous accomplishments, both measurable and immeasurable, the most important of which is saving the lives of many who love the water. Brain was born and raised on the beach at Makaha, one of the most famous surf spots in Hawaii. His passion is deeply rooted in modern ocean safety and ancient Hawaiian culture. You can find numerous stories and documentaries about the Keaulana family and the great strength of Brian’s father, Buffalo Keaulana, a pioneer surfer who taught Brian to dive, surf and fish. For Brian, work and play are one and the same. That’s the Hawaiian lifestyle he was raised in. He works hard and he plays hard. And he wouldn’t have it any other way.
- Todd Bradley
Todd’s enthusiasm for the water drove his desire to improve the performance of paddles, canoes, and boards. He doesn’t just sit behind a desk critiquing the equipment- he lives with it, listening to his fellow watermen and improving the equipment as they use it. He has spent 40 years on the ocean and 20 years building brands in marketing and sales. He’s not 60, but he considers these 2 activities to be separate endeavors. Now they are one and the same with C4 Waterman. Todd was awarded with the export achievement Certificate from the US Department of Commerce for Sales/ Marketing Office. Todd’s assistance was instrumental in building a major national brand of cleaners in Hawaii and successfully penetrated the Australian regions. His success is a testament to how an office in Hawaii can be a key to marketing worldwide. Few athletes are blessed with Todd’s water knowledge, with championships in stand up paddling, surfing, and outrigger canoeing and with being a member of such an awesome team. Todd doesn’t take his good fortune for granted. He is committed to being a family role model, as well as to the waterman in himself and others.
- Dave Parmenter
Dave is a legendary innovative shaper that takes his incredible knowledge and craftsmanship, as well as his riding abilities, along with direction from Brian Keaulana at their testing grounds at Makaha beach, to craft his designs. Dave has proven to be a most innovative shaper with his early models, and the 1st high performance 10' and under SUP boards. This is what makes him the leading shaper in the world today for standup paddleboards. An ex pro surfer, Dave joined Canyon in 1983 and commenced to win six straight California events on his first board shaped by Rusty. During this time, more pros began taking notice of Rusty's work. Dave then went to Western Australia to shape "Rusty" models for Santosha Surfboards. Later that year, Australian ripper Mitch Thorson got the cover of Surfing Magazine on one of Rusty's shapes.
Dave moved from Central California to Makaha in the early 90s. He started his own label, Aleutian Juice. He has kept his main shaping room in Makaha ever since. Dave has a powerful sense of surfing tradition and fancies himself a modern-day reincarnation of the gallant men who first surfed Makaha and his actions in the shaping room and on the water continue to speak loudly.
We are honored to have Dave bring his state of the art design expertise and surfing abilities to the our growing C4 team.
