At the age of 18 Steve Boysen began crafting surfboards in an old garage in Ocean Beach, CA, under the label Pacific Drive Surfboards. A couple years later, he and a good friend opened Pacific Drive Surf Shop in Pacific Beach, CA, which he shaped the Pacific Drive boards in a small shaping room in the back of the shop. As the popularity of the boards expanded and opportunity to make boards for Christian Fletcher arose, he soon outgrew his small shaping facility. From there, the SB Surfboards label was born and moved to North County San Diego. Now, over 20 years later, SB Surfboards is still located in North County, building surfboards for some of today’s top pros and premiere young up-and-comers.
